Job summary
An exciting opportunity is available for an Assistant Patient Administration Manager working in the Gynecology/Gynae-oncology team. This role would provide support to the Patient Administration Manager and requires a proactive approach that includes taking responsibility for ensuring achievement of national waiting time targets and managing efficient booking processes across multiple sites in response to the needs of a diverse and critical patient group.
In addition, the applicant must have excellent communication and team management skills, the ability to priorities their own workload and have a professional attitude. There is a need to be capable of liaising professionally with patients, and with colleagues at all levels, including senior consultants and nurses from across the Trust.
We would welcome candidates who do not hold the Level 3 Team Leading/Supervisor qualification, as this could be offered during employment.
Main duties of the job
To provide support in delivering an efficient and effective patient administration service to support the Trust's ambition to deliver high quality, well-coordinated care for patients and service users and to support consultants and clinical teams to function effectively, through:
Supporting the management and standardization of administrative processes associated with patient pathways in line with national policy guidance and organizational standard operating procedures to ensure effective patient access and waiting list management for the clinical group.
Assisting with effectively tracking complex patients progress through multiple pathways to ensure good clinical outcomes and a positive patient experience, including cancer targets, 18-week status etc at group level (i.e. planning, tracking, negotiating). Escalating and resolving blocks in patient flow and capacity issues with the potential to cause delay to the Patient Administration Manager, Service Manager and Deputy Group Director of Operations as appropriate.
To deputies for and support the Patient Administration Manager in relation to patient tracking and theatre scheduling.
Supporting the introduction and implementation of new working practices and technology, (e.g. speech recognition, UNITY) etc.
