Job summary

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWBT) SLT team is excited to have the opportunity to recruit a band 6 into our inpatient stroke rehab multi-disciplinary team.

Our inpatient stroke pathway is delivered across two hospital locations:Midland Metropolitan University Hospital for acute care and thenRowley Regis Hospital for inpatient rehabilitation and we would like to welcome a new stroke specialist SLT into this MDT, working flexibly between those two locations of the stroke pathway.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an individual passionate about rehabilitation, who can use highly developed interpersonal skills to establish strong relationships with a range of individuals and MDTs.

Some key duties of the role:

-To provide a high standard of speech and language therapy to a diverse caseload of stroke and neurological patients with both communication and swallowing difficulties

-To contribute to the education and development of less experienced speech and language therapists, support workers and student speech and language therapists

-To contribute to the development and evaluation of the Speech and LanguageTherapy service within the area of chosen developing specialism.

-Provide clinical advice, in the area of developing specialism, for other speech andlanguage therapists and professionals from other disciplines.

We have robust instrumental dysphagia services at SWBT; both VFS and FEES, and have a strong focus on skills development in these areas to enhance evidence based management of swallowing disorders.

We provide a structured model of clinical supervision within the team and are keen to support individual career development aspirations via our thorough appraisal system.
