The closing date is 05 January 2026

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Interventional Radiology Staff Nurse to develop their skills and knowledge by joining the expanding nursing team in the Interventional Radiology Department.

This dynamic department provides a wide range of ultrasound, x-ray and CT guided diagnostic and interventional treatments . The unique and varied nature of the specialty means that there is always something new and interesting to learn. Due to the diversity of patients who attend for treatment, the radiology nurse has the ability to care for a wide range of patients of all ages, from emergencies, medical, surgical, vascular, oncology, renal and urological specialties. The radiology nurses are vital team members, fulfilling the scrub, circulating and recovery nurse roles, they have the ability to transfer these skills to the theatre environment when required, as well as organising the patients' pre and post-procedure care. This role also includes working in CT to cover for interventional procedures.

The Interventional Radiology Department comprises a small team of nurses who work alongside the larger multi-disciplinary team including Radiographers, Radiologists, Radiology Assistants, Health Care Support Workers and Administration Staff.

Main duties of the job

The Interventional Radiology department runs a day time service from Monday to Friday with varying shift patterns.

With training, the post holder will also be expected to provide cover for our 24 hour on call service, every third weekend of the month and bank holidays. With further training the role would lead to involvement in the administration of intravenous conscious sedation, requiring advanced monitoring of patients during procedures.

You would also be involved in the care and management of patients having ultrasound and CT guided procedures, for both inpatient and day cases, which may also involve working with the anaesthetic team.

The ideal candidate will be expected to demonstrate commitment to their own personal development and show keen interest in the future development of the profession and the imaging services. If you are motivated, enthusiastic to learn new skills, and committed to the delivery of high quality patient care this is an ideal opportunity for you to grow and develop within the radiology setting.
