Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and progressive Consultant to join our Emergency Medicine Consultant team. You will join a single team of Emergency Medicine Consultants working at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. Successful applicants would be expected to help provide leadership and high quality emergency care. If you are an Emergency Medicine consultant with a Paediatric interest please state this as clearly as possible in the application MMUH ED currently sees approx. 150,000 patients a year and 32,000 children. We are seeking applicants who will join us in our commitment to providing high quality, consultant led emergency care.
Main duties of the job
This is a 10 PA post with an option for negotiated additional DCC up to a maximum of 12 PA. Your rota will be dependent on whether you have Paediatric or EM experience but you will be working regular shifts within the Children's' ED as well. We have implemented an annualised rota for the consultant which enable a good work life balance and adds flexibility. A co-located primary care center will see an additional 30,000 patients and a further 40,000 will be seen at a separate urgent care center in Sandwell.
The post holders would have opportunities to be a Clinical and/or Educational Supervisor to the resident doctors in the Emergency Department; in addition you will have an opportunity to take on specific service development roles. The Trust is home to a number of University departments and we are now looking to develop research capacity in a number of specialties in the Trust including Emergency Medicine so there is likely to be opportunities to become involved in research activities.
