Job summary
Here at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital's Nuclear Medicine Department, we require a Clinical Scientist for a fixed term position (12 months) to cover maternity leave.
As this is a state registered post to cover maternity leave, we must be specific in that applications can only be considered from candidates that possess or are about to gain HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) state registration imminently, to legally act as a Clinical Scientist.
The role could suit someone just completing the NSHCS Scientific Training Program in Nuclear Medicine this year (2025), and is imminently gaining state registration with the HCPC to act as a Clinical Scientist.
The role is based at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. With a spacious new department comes new technology to explore, gain experience and innovate, all with the support to flourish. The department has three Siemens Pro.SPECTA x3 SPECT/CT systems, along with associated processing systems and software
Service wise and scientifically, we benefit from our ability to provide a range of highly varied studies and our department has a good reputation for research anddevelopment in nuclear medicine. We also run a Krypton gas production service which operates from Birmingham University and supplies generators to England and Wales.
Main duties of the job
This is a hands-on role, being active in our equipment quality control program as well as supporting the Principal Clinical Scientist with all scientific aspects of the service to include regulatory compliance with radiation protection.
At Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, all professions work closely together as a team and support each other to provide the best service possible for the patient. Your valued contribution will include working closely with our Clinical Technologists to ensure that they are supported scientifically when needed. Your support will also be needed by our IRMER Licensed Practitioners, where scientists take part in clinical reporting sessions.
You will take an active role in our Imaging Optimisation Team, so that patients gain maximum benefit from the available equipment. This will provide opportunity for you to conduct your own research and development, with the potential to present locally and nationally.
The department operates Mon-Fri, 8am to 6pm. There's opportunity to work flexibly if this suits work/life balance.
