An exciting opportunity has arisen within surgical services, across all of our speciality inpatient wards for full and part time staff nurses to come and join our busy and interesting departments
Our surgical assessment unit and surgical same day emergency care is a fast paced area that cares for patients with general surgery, urology, ENT & trauma & orthopaedic conditions.
Our busy surgical wards specialise in Colo-Rectal surgery, trauma and orthopedics, urology and ENT. There are 8 level 1 beds within this area, making it an excellent opportunity to develop your surgical skills
We offer a supernumary induction period where you will receive comprehensive support from the ward teams and where you will also be supported by our dedicated PDN team. The Trust also offer a preceptorship programme which you will be supported to complete.
Main duties of the job
Within this role you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient careto ensure that care is delivered in a safe and effective manner.
Maintaining excellent communication with staff, patients and their relatives and working as part of a team to ensure the best outcome for our patients.
To supervise the work of student nurses and support workers.
To comply with NMC and local standards for record keeping.
To be aware of the psychological/emotional needs of the patient/carer responding and reporting appropriately.
To undertake administration of prescribed medication and supervision of patient's self-medication.
To work as part of the multidisciplinary team and to regularly lead a team of junior nursing staff on a day to day basis reporting appropriately to the nurse in charge.
Take responsibility for own professional development, developing own skills within the Scope of Professional Practice and the Trust Staff Nurse Development Programmes, attending any training required by the Trust and maintaining own personal development profile.
Promote clinical excellence through participating in setting, maintaining and monitoring standards of care within clinical governance framework and take part in audit and benchmarking.
