Sandwell School Health Nursing team are innovative, unique and motivated health professionals. The service engages with children, young people, families and communities in addressing the public health agenda.
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our responsive and well established school nursing team as a support worker.
We welcome applications from individuals with experience of working with children and young people. Applicants must hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Health Care and be a car owner/ driver
Main duties of the job
Support workers within Sandwell School Nursing team will work together to support the delivery of public health agenda across Sandwell.
Support workers work together with qualified staff to deliver universal services such as health promotion the national child measurement programme, school readiness sessions, parent drop its as well as delivering targeted support for children young people and families across Sandwell.
Duties will be carried out in a variety of settings including schools, health centres and other community settings within Sandwell, liaising with other disciplines as and when necessary to support the health and well being of the school aged population. To work within school health policies and procedures and within agreed clerical and clinical standards for the School Health Service.
To assist the School Health Nurse with development surveillancesessions and undertake growth screening on school age children after relevant training and competencies.To undertake any duties appropriate to the grade, as designated by theSchool Health Nurse andmaintain accurate, legible records of work and data collection.To liaise with school age children's carers in their homes as requested by the School Nurse plus feedback as appropriate and advice by phone to already agreed guidelines through documentation.
