Job summary

This is an opportunity for a receptionist to work at a forward thinking GP Practice. It is a substantive post full time, as part of a small hardworking team. You will be working at Summerfield Group Practice Health Centre in West Birmingham.

There will be a requirement to learn the patient administration systems and ordering system to work effectively within a 'low' paper environment. There may be some requirement to phone and speak to patients and also to deal with patients and their family or assistants .

The days and hours worked will be negotiable to an extent but within the Practices opening times.

Some degree of flexibility would be desired for cover during holiday times.

Main duties of the job

You will be working in Summerfield Group Practice located in Summerfield Primary Care Centre

You will be expected to support all administrative activities. Examples of some activities are:

  • Typing correspondence.
  • Completing EMIS tasks
  • Dealing with patient enquiries both face to face and telephone
  • Referral management according to guidelines.
  • Shared management of a Department email account.
  • Opening and scanning post

You will be expected to support all activities within the Department.

  • NVQ level 2 Customer Care Service, GCSE Maths and English grade C or above
  • Willingness to undertake further training
  • Good standard of general education

Experience

  • Significant clerical experience
  • Good keyboard and computer skills

  • Previous GP reception experience
  • Experience of patient information systems (e.g.Systm One, Rio)
