Job summary

Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust provides the City, Sandwell & Walsall Breast Screening Service as part of the National Breast Screening Programme.

SWB NHS Trust provides the NHSBSP service to an eligible population of 175,000 within North, East and West Birmingham, Sandwell & Walsall area.

We are seeking a hardworking and dedicated Breast Imaging Department Assistant to join our forward thinking breast care team.

This is a substantive post covering both the screening and symptomatic pathways

The breast unit is looking to expand through lateral growth to incorporate new technologies for an increasing population. The department has an experienced team of Imaging Department Assistants who support the service through the processing of data for accuracy and chaperoning Clinicians during procedures and biopsies amongst other duties.

The applicant will possess excellent interpersonal skills and will be willing to work closely with the clinical team and patients to maintain an effective and efficient service. They will need to be motivated, passionate and able to work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

To support the provision of a high quality service to all clients / patients, visitors and staff within the Breast Imaging Department. The department serves a large population within Walsall, Sandwell and most of the Birmingham geographical area who are eligible for the National Breast Screening Programme. Patients are screened in the community on mobile units and the images relayed back to base for checking, audit and reporting by appropriately trained persons. The department also serves the symptomatic clinics for the Breast surgical team.
