Job summary
Exciting opportunities have arisen within our Rheumatology Service. We are seeking enthusiastic, driven senior nurses with excellent clinical skills to join the Department of Rheumatology. Our teams are based across our City and Sandwell Health Campus Sites.
We are looking for individuals that are highly motivated, able to work effectively within in a large multidisciplinary team and use their own initiative within their scope of practice.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for the management of patients with complex conditions and will promote the service and deliver high quality care that is evidence based and reflects current best practice. Working collaboratively within the Rheumatology team and be visible and accessible to patients, carers, and staff.
Candidates would also need to be able to undertake independent nurse led clinics, requiring skills such as expert clinical decision making, advanced health assessment and non-medical prescribing. The role would involve seeing new and follow up patients, extensive knowledge of Rheumatology medications and biologics, deciding the treatment pathway for patients according to NICE/BSR guidelines and managing the biologics service and homecare prescriptions.
Main duties of the job
As the Clinical Nurse Specialist you will provide care for patients with complex, multi-system health needs and offer support to these patients from diagnosis to enable them to self-manage their long term conditions. You will provide assessment and treatment, health education and support to patients to manage their conditions in clinic, via a telephone advice line and virtually using tele-medicine. Within this role, you will be required to demonstrate that you are reliable and flexible.
The post holder will provide highly specialised advice, education, training, and support for patients and be responsible for the development of care pathways and nurse led initiatives to enhance services delivered. In the event recruitment to the B7 positions are not possible, a B6 to 7 development role may be considered . Relevant training and supervision would be provided to meet set objectives for this role.
