Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust are seeking to recruit a qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Neurophysiology. This is a new position developed primarily to support the peripheral neurophysiology section of the team performing complex nerve conduction studies and routine EMG. The successful candidate will have complete an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice within a Neurophysiology setting and work closely with their Consultant Neurophysiologist supervisor as well as the wider Neurophysiology team. They will also lead the development of other trainee ACP in the future for SWB.

If no applications are received from qualified ACP the recruiting team will consider interested Clinical Scientists for a 3 year trainee ACP role dependent on experience. Salary will be reduced during the training period.

All applicants will be HCPC registered or expected to achieve STP equivalence before September for those interested in the training pathway.

Currently the main department is based at the Birmingham Treatment Centre where there are only out patient clinics. In patients are performed in a small satellite department at the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. Out patient services are due to move in the future to Sandwell Health Campus a proposed CDC development in the Black Country.

Main duties of the job

Perform routine EMG and complex nerve conduction studies.

Perform Peripheral Neuropathy screening NCS and supervise physiologist led peripheral neuropathy clinics.

Report on investigations performed.

Leadership, training and audit in Neurophysiology

Limited EEG clinics and portable EEG to maintain clinical competencies.

On call rota 1:10 performing EEG out of hours.
