Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Community Medicine Directorate where we are looking to recruit a full time Senior Sister/Lead Nurse for Medical Infusion Suite (MIS) An outpatient service that currently includes The Outpatient Parenteral Outpatient Parental Antibiotics Therapies Service (OPAT).
The role will also includes interim management responsibilities for a small team of nursing staff in the Clinical Immunology Service.
We are looking to recruit a caring, empathetic, enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion to improve the lives of our patients.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced nurse to develop their skills further as they will be part of the service redesign for the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.
Main duties of the job
MIS and OPAT are currently based at Sandwell Health Campus Monday - Friday and MMUH on Saturdays and Sundays , operating between 08:00 and 18:00 over 7 days per week including bank holidays and weekends and shifts will reflect operating hours.
The successful candidate will be focusing on the already established team on MIS and must act as a role model for all. The service provides IV infusions for acute inpatients and community patients. For MIS to be a centre of excellence service the candidate will work closely with the operational team on development projects.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate clinical leadership and management skills with a drive to enhance and improve the quality of care.
You will need to have the following key skills to take on this challenge:
- Excellent leadership, communication and motivational skills.
- The ability to work on your own initiative, prioritise care, meet deadlines, and problem solve in a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge and experience of Biologics infusions and antimicrobial infusions.
- The ability to proactively maintain and improve quality and safety standards.
- The ability to effectively manage patient flow.
- The ability to effectively manage a roster
- The ability to manage a budget
Candidates should have proven band 6 or above level ,Team leader experience. Additional leadership qualifications/equivalent experience would be beneficial however this is not essential to your application as full training will be provided.
