Hello, I'm Prit the Chief Pharmacy Tech in Operations at SWBH Pharmacy.

Here at SWBH we have a very rare and exciting role available as a Band 4 Specialist Pharmacy Technician to work in our Pharmacy Stores and Distribution areas at the brand new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) and also our new state of the art, Stores & Distribution Hub (Sheldon Block Pharmacy) which is due to open early 2025 based on the City Hospital site.

This advert is also open to any Pharmacy Assistants wanting to progress into a more senior position within the Pharmacy Stores & Distribution areas.

You will require an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) in order to apply for this role or if you are a Pharmacy technician you will require your NVQ Level 3 qualification.

Main duties of the job

You will be working under the direct supervision of the Lead Pharmacy Technician for Procurement, Stores and Distribution and supported by the Chief Pharmacy Technician in Operations. You will work between Midland Metropolitan University Hospital Pharmacy and our brand new Sheldon Block Pharmacy, Stores & Distribution Hub due to open early 2025.

Main duties of the job will include:

To contribute to the development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive Trust-wide Pharmacy Distribution service.
To contribute to the management of the pharmacy automated storage and retrieval system by developing and maintaining robust working practices that allows pharmacy to deliver and efficient service.
To participate in the stock replenishment service, issue and distribution of pharmaceuticals provided to all wards, theatres and departments.
Oversee the day to day management of stores and distribution areas and Pharmacy Assistants.

Significant experience of working in hospital pharmacy distribution services, including experience at band 3 senior assistant level
Proven experience of managing staff.
Experience of ward replenishment and distribution systems.
Experience of liaising with members of pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure that ward stock levels are maintained at a safe and appropriate level.
Undertake audits, gather and analyse data as a job requirement.
Participate in the education of less experienced staff and students.
To be able to handle safely and competently pharmaceutical equipment and medicines used in the dispensing process.

Qualifications

Knowledge of stores and distribution systems acquired through on-the-job and in-house training.
To deal with non-routine and complex tasks relating to human resource, pharmaceutical management procedures and staff recruitment of which is equivalent to NVQ3.
NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services
Demonstrates continual personal development.

Able to manage and organise own workload
Able to plan staffing rotas taking into account planned and unplanned absences
Able to set priorities, meet deadlines and manage own time effectively

Physical skills: able to stand for long periods with frequent bending and lifting
