Job summary
As a senior leader in our Trust, you will work collaboratively with the Directorate General Manager, Clinical Medical Lead, Clinical Nursing lead for Theatres. The role of the Matron will focus on the provision of high-quality care, visibility, professional leadership and have a clear remit of setting and maintaining standards of clinical excellence, improving outcomes and experiences for patients
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the Matron role are to provide operational leadership to the theatre teams, ensuring quality and safety are maintained whilst delivering our yearly production plan. This includes maintaining safety, assurance of quality and compliance with regulatory standards. The role is pivotal to ensuring our theatres are efficient and productive.
As Matron you will ensure the delivery of patient-centered care across all operating rooms and act as a clinical expert, providing guidance on procedures, safety protocols, and best practices.Monitoring patient outcomes and implementing quality improvement plans when necessary.Lead and mentor a team of nurses and support staff , conducting appraisals, manage performance, and identify development needs. Oversee training and competency assessment to ensure high standards.
Manage budgets and track financial performance to support the department's financial sustainability. Develop and implement policies that align with hospital and national healthcare guidelines. Conduct regular audits to assess adherence to clinical standards, safety protocols, and legal requirements. Address issues arising from incident reports, or patient feedback to improve service delivery.
Coordinate with surgeons and anesthetists to optimize theater schedules, prioritize cases, and ensure efficient patient flow. Attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings, providing input on issues affecting the theater department.
