Job summary
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and hardworking doctor to join our Paediatric Department as a Junior Specialist Doctor (JSD) at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust. This post will be a 4 months fixed term post in the first instance starting from as soon as possible with the possibility of longer term opportunities within the Trust subject to performance, progress and vacancies. This post would be aimed at junior grade ST1-3 level and whilst not an approved training post we would mirror the training opportunities given to a training post holder. The JSD paediatric post will allow you to consolidate your experience in a supportive paediatric environment whilst giving you wide ranging clinical exposure and training in a progressive Trust that has won numerous national and local awards. We would be keen to work with the successful applicant and help you to continue to build your paediatric career. We envisage that the JSD post would act as a stepping stone into specialty training and we would look to encourage and fully support successful completion of paediatric exams.
The successful candidate will have foundation year training or equivalent and an interest in General Paediatrics and Neonates with full GMC Registration with a license to practice. They need to have recent experience in paediatrics or neonates and knowledge of the workings of the NHS.
Main duties of the job
Midland Metropolitan Hospital Hospital (MMUH) opened its doors on 6th October 2024. Its opening is the beginning of a fresh chapter in our ambitious journey to be the nation's leading provider of integrated care. As well as being the closest adult hospital to Birmingham's busy city centre, Midland Metropolitan Hospital will offer dedicated maternity and children's services. Crucially, it will bring together teams who provide acute, emergency care, in line with the views expressed in our public consultation. It will provide state-of-the-art treatment and care for patients from Sandwell and across the region and will become the civic heart of the area and a point of pride for the community.
The Trust is a key partner with the local commissioning group and the local authorities in the Right Care Right Here programme which seeks to deliver a redevelopment of local health services. The programme includes one of the largest investments in the UK with new facilities in both the acute and community sectors. Included within this is the new Midland Metropolitan Hospital.
