Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for health care assistants who have an interest in working both clinically in procedure rooms within endoscopy, and within our decontamination unit gaining specialist skills and competence in the reprocessing of endoscopes.
Endoscopy at Sandwell & West Birmingham Trust is a Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accredited department, where we see out-patients and in-patients to complete diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Within the department we work with a variety of different specialties including: gastroenterology, respiratory and urology. Performing gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, EUS, EBUS, ERCP, TNE and cystoscopy procedures.
Endoscopy are looking for staff who are hard working, motivated, flexible and able to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
We welcome applicants who do not hold Level 2/3 Healthcare Support Worker qualification as this can be offered as a development opportunity during employment
All endoscopy staff are required to work towards completion of JETs workforce Endo course 1 qualification, to show competence of knowledge and skills learnt.
Main duties of the job
Healthcare assistants on the unit, work to develop knowledge, skills and competence across a variety of areas including admission, recovery, procedure rooms and decontamination unit.
Duties include admission of patients, setting up of procedure rooms, taking biopsy and supporting patients during procedure, monitoring of observations, support qualified staff in the recovery of patients and working in decontamination unit in the reprocessing of endoscopes used across various departments within the Trust.
