Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced, and dynamic individual to join the Clinical Immunology team as a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Immunology. There will be an opportunity for a band 6- 7 development postion if immediate recruitment to the Band 7 position is not possible .
The Clinical Immunology service cares for patients with Immunodeficiency and Allergic conditions. This role provides an opportunity to work across both elements of the service, however the successful candidate will primarily work within the immunodeficiency service, alongside the Consultant Immunologists to provide treatment to patients suffering from immunological diseases. The post holder will be the care coordinator for patients with chronic immunological diseases mainly primary and secondary immune defects and will supervise and assist with the provision of intravenous and subcutaneous immunoglobulin therapies on the day unit, in addition to providing patients' training when appropriate to enable to self-administration at home.
Annual Home visit assessments will be required, therefore a full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle is essential.
Main duties of the job
This is the role of the clinical coordinator of care for patients with complex chronic disease and the person applying for this job will need to have experience caring for these groups of conditions and managing such diseases. As the Senior Nurse, the post holder will manage the Immunodeficiency and Allergy Nursing team.
The successful candidate will be expected to take part in audit and to help educate other members of staff. Experience of immunodeficiency is essential and further training will be provided. The post holder will be expected to participate in ongoing CPD to enhance their knowledge and skills base by attending specialty related courses and events.
