The Specialist Health Visitor in Perinatal & Infant Mental Health is a new exciting role within Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS trust
The role will provide clinical leadership, programmes of training and staff development to ensure an efficient, effective and high-quality provision for Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (PIMH) support throughout Sandwell. Acting as a role model and a source of first line information for Health Visitors and partners in relation to PiMH.
Main duties of the job
You will:
- Provide evidence based Perinatal & Infant Mental Health clinical expertise, leadership and support to staff across Sandwell & West Birmingham Health Visiting Service.
- Provide clinical expertise to meet the needs of the families in relation to parental mental health, parent infant relationships and infant and young children's development.
- Deliver direct care to families using recognised assessment and observation techniques
- Act as an advocate for parents and their infants with perinatal mental health difficulties to ensure they receive active and effective care
- Develop, disseminate, implement appropriate policies, procedures, and care pathways for women and families experiencing mild, moderate and severe mental health problems in active collaboration with colleagues and partners using Local and National Guidance
- Be committed to developing and transforming services, through training, audit. research and policy development
- Be a facilitator to develop effective working relationships across agencies.
- To have excellent knowledge of local safeguarding processes.
