Job summary

We have the opportunity for 1 wte or part time Senior Sexual Health Nurse (s) to join the Sandwell Sexual Health Service .We would like to recruit an enthusiastic nurse who wants to deliver excellent sexual health services and be part of a motivated team of professionals. We are a multi-professional progressive team providing a comprehensive, evidence based and patient focused service for Contraception and Genitourinary Medicine specialising in integrated sexual health and HIV services

The post holder will be working alongside our multi-disciplinary team including two consultant, specialist nurses, HIV pharmacist and dietician to deliver sexual health and contraceptive support, treatments and managements across the boroughs of Sandwell and the West Midlands.

The post holder will be actively participating in health promotion and supporting vulnerable groups which will include events within the local community enabling the post holder to engage with the community and offer and promote our services.They will be working at the main hub at the Lyng Centre and our outreach services across Sandwell.

We welcome applicants who have a qualification in Intrauterine device insertion

Main duties of the job

Provide clinical care for presenting groups of patients including history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care.

Motivated to provide all aspects of sexual health and contraception to vulnerable and hard to reach groups who would otherwise not engage in Sexual health services.

With appropriate training manage patients requiring implant removal and fit.

Provide varied contraceptive methods and sexual infection treatments working under Patient Group Direction or as a registered Non Medical Prescriber.

Undertake screening including Cervical Screening and Sexually Transmitted Infections.

Manage and appropriatly action STI results via the online and clinic ERP sytems

Utilise clinical skills appropriately to enhance the delivery of patient care

Supervise Band 3 healthcare support Workers within the clinical setting and particpate in their development

Provide interdisciplinary education and training to other staff and students
