Job summary
We invite applications for four full-time speciality doctor posts in Ophthalmology at Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre. These posts incorporate multispeciality rotation, suitable for experienced ophthalmologists who wish to pursue a portfolio pathway for entry into the GMC Specialist Register. The post involves rotating through 12 months in each sub-speciality, where the post holder will receive training and support equivalent to the ophthalmic specialist trainees on the program. Applicants should be registered with the GMC, have completed foundation years of training or equivalent, and have at least two years of experience in clinical ophthalmology. Previous experience in ophthalmic surgery, intravitreal injections, and research or teaching experience are desirable.

Main duties of the job
These posts are new posts created to support the service demands in the department. The appointee will complement the existing staff and take responsibility for the day-to-day functioning of the clinical service, working with clinical and managerial colleagues. It is mandatory for the appointee to be on the regional out-of-hours on-call rota and will be sharing this with the Ophthalmic Speciality Trainee.
