Job summary
Working as part of a wider General Practice team, the post holder will have responsibility for general treatment duties including leg ulcer management and administration of injectable medicenes for patients for . e.g for b12 defieciency, contraception or management of prostate cancer.children and adult immunisations, participation in seasonal vaccinations clinics. Travel consultation clinics as well as offering cytology as part of the national cerical screening team.
As a band 6 general practice nurse knowledge and skills in long term chronic disease managementof the general population are also required. The psot holder will support the site lead with management of the nursing team and mentorship of new staff and nursing students. Post holders will see patients in clinics but at times will need to offer care to identified housebound patients in their own homes.
Main duties of the job
General treatment duties, via booked clinics to offer wound and ulcer managament, support long term disease education, administer injectable medications as required,
Child and adult immunisations as per national schedules.
Travel clinic consultations.
Well woman clinics.
Supervising other members of the team such as Nurses,Health care assistants student nurses and Nurse Associates, .
Participating in infection control audits and other assurance protocols.
Managementof patientsts with long term conditions.
