Job summary

An exciting opportunity opportunity has arisen for Midwife Sonographers to join our ADAU team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWBH). We are a busy Maternity unit offering care across Birmingham and surrounding areas. You can expect a warm welcome at SWBH, our staff are friendly and welcoming.

Our Antenatal Day Assessment Unit incorporates 3rd trimester growth scan service in addition to caring for women who require antenatal surveillance throughout their pregnancy's. We also operate a successful Community Scanning service

We have a dedicated and dynamic multi-disciplinary team who strive to maintain the highest quality and standards of care to our women and their families.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a professional obstetric sonographer holding the appropriate qualifications in third trimester growth scans and Liquor Volume Umbilical dopplers.

The post holder will provide a highly specialist service to aid diagnosis and management of care.

You will perform and report on all scans and be able to make informed decisions within your scope of professional practice and within clinical guidelines.

You may, at times, be required to communicate potentially distressing diagnosis directly to expectant parents and refer these patients appropriately.

You will teach and supervise trainee midwifery sonographers and medical staff. You will be expected to supervise newly qualified members of staff.

You must maintain professional standards by developing and maintaining your CPDand by taking part in other developmental activities as required e.g leading on audit

You will take care of women attending ADAU for a range of crieria incuding reduced fetal movements
