Job summary

We require Security Officers (Band 3) to assist in the maintenance of Security to protect people and property, deter and detect crime and provide a reassuring presence to our staff, patients and visitors. (Please note that you can be deployed on any premises of Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospital NHS Trust if you are required to do so)

You must be of smart appearance and be able to work as part of a very active team; you will need to cope calmly and effectively with both routine and emergency situations. We are looking for compassionate, professional and courteous individuals. Staff will be required to cover weekends and Public Holidays as they fall. (Due to organisational change the permanent day/night shifts will also alternate from days to nights)

Main duties of the job

These roles involve a wide variety of duties and you will need to deal with difficult situations and be sensitive when dealing with upset and anxious patients and visitors. You will need to use diplomacy skills to diffuse and de-escalate aggressive behaviour and be able to physically assist in restraining violent individuals who may be patients or visitors. Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Previous security experience (x2 years) in a large and diverse organisation is essential, possession of an SIA Door Supervisor license is desirable (other relevant experience will also be considered) and the possession of an SIA CCTV license would also be advantageous. A full driving licence is essential, as is the ability to communicate English clearly both verbally and in writing. You will be required to file reports and undertake a range of tasks using computer software. The successful candidate must undertake training as required.
