Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and innovative specialist Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor (IDVA) to join the Vulnerable Adults Team. The successful applicant will be based in the Emergency Departments (ED) at both Sandwell and City Hospital eventually moving to MMUH. The post holder, as a specialist IDVA will work along side clinical and allied health professionals to respond to victims of domestic abuse and violence safeguarding both vulnerable adults and children. The post holder will act as an advocate and promote the emergency department as a safe space by offering a specialist and immediate response to victims at the point of crisis. Undertaking risk assessments, providing advise and referrals and liaising with external agencies for ongoing support.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high quality front line service to victims of domestic violence and abuse and other interpersonal violence.
To provide direct support to ED and wider SWBT staff in identifying victims of domestic abuse and violence.
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and safety planning for victims and abuse and violence at the point of crisis.
Support clients to access 24 hour refuge where necessary to act quickly in keeping victims safe and prevent bed blocking
