Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled, dynamic, and innovative Occupational Therapist within the established Critical Care, Surgery and Respiratory Therapy Team at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals.
Using a flexible approach, with excellent team working, you will deliver holistic therapy working collaboratively with therapy and psychology colleagues and the wider MDT. You will need excellent organisational and communication skills, as well as a keen interest in service development. This is a new role within our service which along with a newly appointed Band 7 Occupational Therapist will introduce Occupational Therapy skill and expertise into the team to develop an integrated service. Professional and peer support will also be provided by senior Occupational Therapists within the wider in-patient team.
You will need evidence of varied post graduate experience including previous working within an NHS in-patient setting. This role requires delivery of service within a critical care, surgery and acute respiratory care settings, given this area of specialism you may not have significant experience within this clinical area, however our welcoming, highly skilled therapists and MDT colleagues will support any development needs to enable transition into this interesting and very rewarding area of practice.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have sufficient knowledge, skill and experience to:
- Formulate and deliver specialist therapy programmes
- Directly deliver high quality and safe evidence-based therapy intervention
- In collaboration with the therapy team support daily team operations to deliver high quality patient care and experience via a continuous quality improvement approach
- Create a working environment that facilitates striving for excellence through staff learning and development supporting the MDT
- Develop a supportive and cohesive team-working environment
- Work collaboratively as part of the trust wide or wider multi-professional team
To support the therapy needs of our patients applicants must be prepared to participate in the extended hours and 7 day working rota within the in-patient team.
