The Nutrition and Dietetics Service at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust is excited to recruit a clinical specialist dietitian in surgery to work within our growing acute dietetic services.
Our belief is that dietitians, nutrition nurses and support staff empower quality of life and bring independence and dignity to our service users.
The successful post-holder will work across acute surgical specialism within our surgical nutrition and dietetics team with a focus on oral and enteral nutritional support with opportunities to develop a skillset in parenteral nutrition. Working with colleagues across the multi-disciplinary team to optimise the nutrition of people undergoing surgical intervention.
Main duties of the job
This post strongly aligns with the MDT and post registration dietetic experience in nutrition support and a genuine interest and enthusiasm to specialise in acute surgery is essential. The post holder will work across our surgical wards for both short and long-term admissions managing a caseload across surgical specialisms including gynae-oncology, colorectal and general surgery working within our surgical nutrition and dietetic team and alongside colleagues.

We are looking for an innovative individual who is motivated by MDT working and keen to work in a growing specialist service for our diverse population. Candidates will be joining a service at a time of considerable opportunity. You will need to use highly developed interpersonal skills to foster strong relationships with a range of key stakeholders working in a service that is strongly integrated with our well-established Clinical Nurse Specialist service.
