Job summary
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative and progressive Junior specialist doctor to join our Dermatology team at the Birmingham Skin Centre, Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust. This post offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in Dermatology and training opportunities in general adult and paediatric dermatology, cutaneous allergy, skin cancer, emergency on-call work in dermatology, and also some basic dermatological surgery. The appointee will cover both sites, City Hospital, Birmingham and Sandwell General Hospital during the in hours on-call.
Applications are welcomed from candidates who have A minimum of 4-6 months full-time training and experience in dermatology with some NHS experience in Dermatology preferable at the commencement of post. Additionally applicants must have a primary medical qualification and General Medical Council's Registration.
This Job is for fixed term of 6 to 12 months starting as soon as possible.

Main duties of the job
The post will enable the successful applicant to work as part of the dermatology team to maintain Dermatology services in line with strategic requirements. Assessment and initiation of management of patients in the Dermatology specialty under the supervision of Consultant staff. To provide, with the other doctors in the dermatology department, routine and emergency Dermatology services to the Trust, operating a system of mutual in-hours cover for annual, study and professional leave.
Participating in clinical meetings and postgraduate activities in the department and the Trust. Participation on the relevant in-hours rotas. Attendance at regular ward/board rounds and multi-disciplinary case meetings with the Consultant and Specialty Trainees. Assistance with outpatient clinics on a regular basis (as per timetable). Participation in the Departmental Postgraduate Training Programme. Participate in teaching of other junior doctors, medical students and nurses. Contribute to audit and quality improvement.
The appointee will work to a timetabled Job plan.
