We are seeking a highly motivated Neonatal Ward Manager with the ability to organise and prioritise a challenging but rewarding workload and with the dedication, commitment and knowledge base to develop neonatal services.

Here at City Neonates we are a busy Level 2 LNU and care for babies born from 27 weeks gestation, our unit is a 29 bedded unit comprising of 29 cots; 5 ITU, 5 HDU and 19 special care cots. Here at City Neonates we host some excellent and very reputable services including our ever developing Neonatal Community Outreach Team/Service (NCOT.) We also host a baby clinic here on site enabling us to continue support for babies and families once discharged. We are also currently working with our maternity colleagues to develop an 8 bedded transitional care unit and are excited to be moving to the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.

Main duties of the job

A high profile, accessible responsive and accountable leader with twenty four hour patient, staff, service and resource responsibility within the Neonatal Unit.

Able to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed operational, professional , clinical standards and targets are met.

To manage and coordinate staff and clinical activity within the ward playing a key role within the multi disciplinary team.

To take the lead for ward change management activity, developing and maintaining strong communication links with Group and Directorate.

To promote a learning environment within the Neonatal Unit.

To be accountable for the quality of care delivered within the unit by the team.

To promote the family integrated care philosophy ensuring our team are adequately educated ensuring we provide the best possible care in partnership with the parents and families that we serve optimising outcomes for our babies
