Job summary
We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, ambitious, kind and enthusiastic midwife to join our Antenatal Clinic team . A midwife who is passionate about providing high quality care to our high risk population . We have level 2 Baby friendly accreditation and rated "GOOD" at the last CQC inspection.
As a trust, we care for approximately 6000 births every year and cover a very diverse population. This is an exciting opportunity for a band 6 midwife who is passionate about making a difference to join our team of highly skilled midwives in maternity.
We want to help you develop and enhance your skills and maximise your potential in all aspects of Antenatal Care. We actively encourage staff development and have a fantastic clinical education team to provide our in house, multidisciplinary professional development training. We have excellent links with local universities for post registration development.
This post requires UK NMC qualification, which is gained after completion of OSCE, please do not apply if you have not done this.
Main duties of the job
Our Antenatal Clinic provides a high standard of Antenatal Care to a diverse population of High Risk women . Alongside the specialist Consultant clinics , our Midwives run a variety of midwife led clinics including BMI , Pre Operative , Out of Area bookings, VBAC, Vaccinations and BCG.
As well as working within the midwife led clinics the successful applicant will assist with coordinating the day to day running of the Antenatal clinic including follow up of defaulters,, ordering of pharmacy stock and maintaining ward assurances .
The successful applicant will also participate in the supervision and assessment of student midwives.
About us
Our maternity unit includes a Consultant Led Obstetric Unit - consisting of high risk labour and birth rooms (including one fixed birth pool room), High Dependency Care beds, 2 obstetric theatres and recovery areas, bereavement suite and maternity triage area. We also have a 21 bedded postnatal ward and 14 bedded antenatal / transitional care ward. The Serenity Midwife Led Unit, our award winning alongside birth centre, has five birth rooms and a dedicated assessment area to support 1200 births per year.

Our new acute hospital, the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), opens in 2024 and will provide care to our local population from first class, purpose-built premises. As a result, the base of this role may change to MMUH from 2024 (or beyond). The development of the new hospital will play an important role in the regeneration of the wider area and in improving the lives of local people and reducing health inequalities.
