We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward thinking individual with appropriate exposure and experience, particularly in Diabetes, High risk and Vascular Podiatry.
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the surgery and high risk services within the podiatry department. This will also include highly specialist triage of referrals received for the MDT diabetic foot clinic. The post holder will provide highly specialist clinical assessment and treatment of patients in all settings, ensuring care pathways are followed and you will provide an extension of the MDT to the housebound patient.
As a clinical lead, the post holder will formulate and implement organisational protocols and pathways for service provision. The post holder will be effective at managing staff and will be part of the clinical leads team to ensure the smooth running of the department meets core clinical activity requirements.
Main duties of the job
- Management of the multiple disciplinary teams in the clinical setting
- Highly specialist triaging of the multiple disciplinary teams diabetic foot clinic inbox
- Skill mix and adopt clinical protocols to reduce waiting times on the clinical pathway
- Use of evidence based practice or external consultant opinion to develop new risk managed care pathways when presenting conditions and conventional pathways conflict
- Educating patients on the nature of their complaint
- Difficult discussions with patients and their families and/or carers on the realistic outcomes of the intervention that can be offered to ensure compliance is achieved
- Plan resource needs and training needs for the specialty and formulate a 3 year business plan that can be implemented and adjusted dynamically to suit rapidly changing NHS structure and local delivery plan needs, precipitate these changes to clinical practice and procedure
- Provide training to team clinicians working within the specialty and mentor, line manage and perform PDR appraisals, supervise, provide training and assessment to podiatry students and support technical instructors grades and clerical grades working within the specialty
- Provide CPD lectures to Foot Health Department on relevant specialist practices
- Provide CPD lectures to groups of health professionals relevant to the podiatric practice
- Oversee audit collection and analysis for both relevant local and national audits
