Job summary
The General Transport Department at SWBH are looking for a Full time GTS driver. The successful candidate must hold a clean UK driving license with a desirable D1 category. the hours are 37.5 per week worked over 5 days Monday to Friday and the earliest start time of 07:30 and the latest finish 18:30 hours.
The successful candidate will need to be flexible, reliable, friendly and prepared to work as a team. Full training will be given.
Main duties of the job
Transporting clean/dirty laundry, stock to various hospitals/GP's. Collection or delivery of equipment/notes/confidential letters.
Collection of Clinical waste around the West Midlands area.
Collection of specimens from various Clinics, GP surgeries & Health Centres.
Delivery of Radioactive gases to various Hospitals around the country.

Job responsibilities
- To manage your own route according to the weather and traffic conditions
- Staff on this duty will be expected to work unsupervised and will be responsible for the safe delivery of all specimens, Radiopharmacy, equipment, parcels or documents
- Staff must have the physical ability to move heavy loads of 15kg plus using the appropriate equipment.
- To carry out basic vehicle checks of fuel, oil, water, and lights to prevent unnecessary breakdowns prior to the commencement of the shifts as previously discussed by the Transport Manager
- To keep accurate records of daily vehicle inspection and handing records into City Transport Office on a weekly basis (Monday Morning)
- To log all jobs correctly via mobile phone
- To keep the vehicle in a clean and tidy condition and to prevent the consumption of food and beverages.
- To observe the Health and Safety at Work act, the Road Traffic act where appropriate and report any accidents, incidents or dangerous occurrences depending on the post holders assessment as to the severity as soon as possible after the occurrence
