Job summary
To practice as an Anatomical Mortuary Technician in the Mortuary atSandwell General Hospital, West Bromwich. To carry out the duties associated with an Anatomical Mortuary Technician. the candidate will need to be motivated and have experience in a mortuary setting and able to conduct full post mortems.
Main duties of the job
The candidate will be required to assist in routine coroner post mortems as required and work at the request of the pathologist. They will also be required to maintain the cleanliness and the proper maintenance of the body store and the autopsy room, other areas of the mortuary also the equipment and the tools used in the mortuary. they will be expected to know how to receive and dispatch bodies (both hospital and coroners) into the mortuary, ensuring adequate documentation as per HTA guidelines. There will also be the need to undertake documentation and record keeping ensuring correct identification of bodies. The candidate will be required to prepare bodies for viewings, also to follow all department rules in relation to Health and Safety ensuring that any defects, matters of concern and areas of possible improvement are brought to the attention of the Department manager or immediate supervisor.
