Job summary

A 12 month cover is required for an experienced Optical assistant to work in the Optometry Department at BMEC.

This position requires the demonstration of strong organisational skills and the ability to work on your own, as well as interacting with the rest of the Optometry Department. The successful applicant will be expected to assist the Optical Dispenser with performing simple dispenses of spectacles as well as supporting the Contact Lens Technician with teaching contact lens insertion and removal techniques.

You will need to have a positive disposition, a friendly attitude and be an excellent communicator, with a genuine enthusiasm for working with patients and improving their eyecare.

Main duties of the job

1) Booking appointments for patients

2) Dispensing contact lens solutions

3) Banking

4) Teaching patients how to insert and remove contact lenses
