Ward Manager

Job summary

We are looking for a Band 7 Ward Manager to join our busy team based in Maidstone. We require someone who demonstrates strong leadership qualities and embraces a trauma-informed approach to care. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a therapeutic environment, supporting staff development, and ensuring high-quality care for our service users.

o You will oversee the management of a defined caseload of clients with complex mental and physical health needs, using evidence based, person centred, recovery orientated principles and practice and trauma informed care.

o You will provide clinical and professional leadership for junior staff through supervision and training.

o You will support the strategic objectives of KMPT through maintaining the adherence of staff and self to all internal policies and external audit requirements.

o You will work on a supernumerary basis and as part of the overall team covering clinical input where required.

The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Main duties of the job

The Ward Manager is responsible for ensuring high standards of patient care. They are professionally responsible for ensuring the delivery of a range of multidisciplinary assessments of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

They must maintain a supportive leadership profile for the Deputy Ward Managers and for the full multidisciplinary team whilst working collaboratively with all other professionals to support the delivery of a therapeutic approach to patient care. The wellbeing of patients, staff and visitors is paramount to the ward ethos.

The Ward Manager must be able to work competently in a challenging environment and be able to react to changing care demands whilst demonstrating the highest levels of care and empathy towards patients. This is across all aspects of the role in a flexible manner, demonstrating the trust values.

  • RMN/RN or RNLD - depending on the nature of the ward; Dip HE or Degree; Preparation of Mentors post-registration qualification
  • Experience as a Deputy Ward Manager within an inpatient setting - or equivalent experience
