Assistant Psychologist

Job summary
The post holder will be involved in running psychological groups and brief individual interventions for patients. All clinical duties relating to psychological assessment and intervention are delivered under the FULLclinical oversight and supervision of a qualified psychologist, with the qualified psychologist assuming clinical responsibility for the assistant's case load and to work as an integral part of the mental health in-patient ward team.
Main duties of the job
- To work closely as part of the MDT, part of ward rounds, safety huddles, ward routines, based predominantly on the wards to be able to actively support and work with patients both though structural engagements such as psychology groups, initial interventions and short-term, brief 1:1 therapy sessions to aid discharge and to link patients into resources in the community.
- To also support with the ward environment and help to develop a therapeutic environment and trauma informed practices.
- To implement plans of specialist psychological treatment or management of client's mental health problems formulated by a qualified psychologist.
- To undertake a range of skills-based or protocol-driven psychological therapeutic interventions, in the light of an ongoing evaluation of the outcomes of the intervention under the clinical supervisionand guidance of a qualified psychologist.
- To provide psychological guidance and support to carers and families of service users under clinical supervision of a qualified psychologist
