Job summary

The Medway Community Mental Health Team in Gillingham is seeking a Mental Health Practitioner - Duty Worker (Band 6) with a background in Registered Mental Health Nursing.

Qualifications:

  • Post-qualification experience in community or urgent care mental health
  • Continuing professional development evidence

Summary of the Duty Worker role in mental health: Responsibilities:

  • Provideadvice and supportto:
    • Known service users:Individuals who have previously accessed the mental health service.
    • New service users:Individuals seeking help for the first time.
    • Other professionals:Offering guidance and information to healthcare professionals encountering mental health situations.
  • Conducturgent assessmentsfor individuals needing immediate support.

  • No caseload management:The duty worker is not responsible for ongoing care of individual clients.
  • Focus on severe and enduring mental illness:Serves individuals with conditions requiring specialized care.
  • Collaborative approach:Works within a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with various mental health specialists, primary care providers, and community agencies.
  • Required skills:
    • Strong initiative and self-motivation.
    • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
    • Knowledge of advanced nursing interventions and community assessment skills.
    • Willingness to undergo relevant training.
