Job summary
To carry out all duties of the role in accordance with the Security and reception procedures of the Unit and be an effective member of the Reception Team.
To be able to maintain an efficient but secure Reception Desk and work with security resources and equipment, maintaining effective monitoring processes and reporting any discrepancies to the Head of Security or Security on Call.
To liaise with all wards and departments on various security and reception matters along with composing and circulating necessary e-mails once approval sought from Head of Security or Security on Call out of hours.

Main duties of the job
o Present a professional and courteous image to all patients, staff and visitors entering and exiting the unit.o Ensure the identity of persons wishing to enter or exit the unit, maintaining responsibility for the Reception Desk and airlock system, thus maintaining the security of the unit at all times.o Ensure that only authorised visitors are granted admission to the unit.o Keep accurate and up to date records of the entry and exit of all staff and visitors via the appropriate systems.o Ensure that all visitors are directed to and reminded of prohibited items before they enter the airlock/secure areas. o Ensure that staff and visitors leave items prohibited on the unit within allocated lockers.o Ensure visitors are allocated with a lockable locker and how to use it.o Ensure all staff entering the building is provided with the relevant security equipment, i.e. fobs, PIT's and radio's (where applicable).o Ensure that any potential security breach is reported to the Head of Security or Out of Hours Security On Call).o Ensure that all secure/unit keys (allocated), alarms and radios are accounted for and monitored. All keys and security related items are reconciled and recorded three times a day. Any discrepancies or missing items are to be reported to Head of Security or Out of Hours Security On Call. Operate and maintain all security equipment within the Reception Desk. Ensure handcuffs are issued to only those authorised and paperwork is completed on return. Monitoring of the airlock monitor. Ensure regular checks of alarms and radios are carried out. Ensure that all alarms, radios and related batteries are kept charged. Directing responding staff to alarms to the ward or Department as appropriate. Receive and respond to all incoming telephone calls to the unit, relaying messages accurately and promptly. Ensure the identity of deliveries to the unit. Ensure that prison transfer vehicle is safely escorted into the ambulance bay and that the Head of Security/Ward Manager is informed of its arrival. Take delivery and sign for daily delivery of drugs from pharmacy and any items that require a signature. Take part in regular supervision, training and update meetings as defined by the Head of Security. Carry out any other appropriately identified task as required by your manager. Make vehicle bookings on behalf of staff into vehicle calendars. Provide staff with the relevant keys, paperwork and emergency rucksack for vehicle use. Liaise with vehicle leasing/service department or Trust Transport Department in relation to unit vehicle servicing etc. Maintain vehicle log sheets and fuel receipts on a weekly basis, ensuring database is accurate. Maintain unit driver vehicle database and DVLA licence checks. Make room bookings on behalf of staff into meeting room calendars. Maintain and ensure all staff have up to date security inductions/updates.
