Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist with managerial and clinical experience to join our Neuropsychology Service.

The clinical service is well established and involves working with adults who have experienced stroke in the Thanet locality (Margate & Ramsgate), mostly in clinic settings but some home visits are required.

The post holder will also provide line management and clinical supervision to other staff within the clinical neuropsychology service and work closely with the senior management team to deliver high quality and responsive services across Kent.

Main duties of the job

The Kent Neuropsychology Service provides specialist neuropsychological assessments and cognitive rehabilitation .

There is a strong rehabilitation ethos and clinical psychologists working in the service have interests in a range of therapeutic approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, CBT and Systemic Family Therapy. Relationships with multidisciplinary colleagues within the neurorehabilitation and stroke care pathways are positive and supportive.

About us

Members of the Neuropsychology Service receive regular individual clinical and management supervision and there is a commitment to ongoing training and professional development. There are opportunities for some hybrid models of remote working alongside face to face clinical work.

As a service we actively pursue opportunities to contribute to relevant neuropsychology projects and collaborations regionally and nationally, and offer opportunities to develop special interests and expertise.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the systematic provision of a specialist clinical neuropsychology service to adults with stroke referred to the Kent Neuropsychology Service.
  • To undertake high quality direct (assessment and therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, and advisory) neuropsychological and psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions.
  • Be a full and active member of the Kent Clinical Neuropsychology Service.
  • To be responsible for providing training placements for trainee clinical psychologists and for providing advice, consultation and supervision. Teaching and training to non-psychology colleagues and other clinical psychologist within the trust (as appropriate).
  • The post holder will liaise with key colleagues and agencies, mental health and social services teams to ensure effective care and management of adults with stroke.
  • To line manage and clinically supervise qualified and unqualified clinical psychologists working in the neuropsychology service.
