Job summary

There has been a £2.3bn investment in mental health which has been identified in the Long Term Plan. Thisadditional investment will support further service developments for perinatal mental health.

The PMHCS have a very exciting and unique opportunity for a perinatal quality assistant to join our expanding perinatal team

The post holder will assist the Perinatal Service Manager in supporting improvement in the perinatal service. This will involve supporting clinicians to meet CQC standards, CQUIN targets and other measures of service quality and governance.

The post holder will also assist the Directorate Lead for Patient Experience in supporting service users and carers with service improvement projects, undertaking statistical analysis for service user satisfaction surveys and research projects and also liaising directly with service users, carers, visitors & staff regarding their experience of services.

Main duties of the job

Liaising with perinatal service leads to support the operational delivery of the quality & governance framework.

Assisting the perinatal service to ensure required standards are achieved.

Assisting in investigations, highlighting recommendations and devising action plans.

Supporting the perinatal service in continual improvement of practice.

Supporting the identification & management of risks to the quality of care.

Being involved in the identification of learning from good practice/poor practice and sharing as relevant.

Completing reports/providing information regarding quality, service improvement & compliance.

Assisting in the planning, conducting, analysis and report writing for improvement projects & initiatives e.g. Audits, service evaluations and research.

Using results to explore any areas requiring improvement in order to support the devising, implementation and monitoring of action plans (e.g. serious incident, complaint, CQC inspection, Triangle of Care).

Devising and delivering a range of training to patients, carers and/or staff.

Consulting with & supporting communication strategies to relevant stakeholders.

Supporting service users and carers in improvement projects.

Carrying out research into best practice around improvement projects.

Evaluating improvement projects after implementation.

Liaising directly with service users, carers, visitors & staff regarding their experience of services.

Assisting in the review/update of perinatal policies.

Assist clinicians in meeting CQUIN targets including undertaking tasks in delivery CQUIN activity.

Collate data and analyse CQUIN data.

Prepare CQUIN reports for clinicians reporting results from CQUIN data.

Patient Experience

Assist the directorate Lead for Patient Experience on agreed tasks including:

Involvement in improvement projects (e.g. video projects, Expert by Experience etc.)

Liaising directly with service users and carers regarding their experience of services (e.g. discharge checklist, SU video project).

To be responsible for ensuring service user involvement in research, audit and evaluation.

To undertake clinically related administration, audit and research projects.

Collecting and analysing data as required, reporting in writing and verbally.

Monitoring and supporting the implementation of action plans (e.g. Triangle of Care).

To contribute to the evaluation of the perinatal service by participating in service-related research and evaluation projects.

To undertake literature searches and reviews of current research to support the evidence based practice of the perinatal service.

To undertake the preparation of test materials, data collection, data analysis and the production and presentation of reports on audit and research projects.

To undertake statistical and qualitative analysis of data.

To produce written reports of the work undertaken.

Devising and delivering training

Supporting communication strategies to relevant stakeholders (e.g. Expert by Experience newsletter).

Consultation with relevant stakeholders (e.g. Expert by experience group), attending meetings as agreed with Lead for Patient Experience.

Supporting service users and carers in improvement projects.

Involvement in putting together bids for charitable funding for projects.

Carrying out research into best practice around improvement projects.

Evaluating improvement projects after implementation.

Using results to explore any areas where practice could be improved

Undertaking agreed clinical audit / surveys and research

To contribute to complex audit, assisting colleagues to develop service provision.

Monitoring and supporting agreed clinical audit / surveys and research carried out by other clinicians.

Keeping abreast of current standards relevant to the perinatal service and sharing this information.

Supporting and delivering training related to quality initiatives.

Supporting the Royal College of Psychiatry peer review audits and any consequent action plans.

Supporting clinicians and managers in all quality initiatives that the service agrees.
