Job summary

We are pleased to invite applicants for the role of Senior Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) Supervisor within Wakefield Future in Mind MHST (Mental Health Support Team).

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, forward-thinking practitioner to join our team. Applicants must be a registered EMHP and have completed or be in the process of completing a postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision (EMHP Supervisor Training Course).

The role requires substantial experience in childrens mental health, with strong skills in mental health assessment, formulation, care planning and intervention delivery. As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to lead on complex cases and support practitioners in the team through both formal and informal supervision.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a clear commitment to developing the clinical skills of the colleagues and fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional development and staff well-being.

The successful applicant will work across a number of education settings, developing effective working relationships, offering support to the school community.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities of the Senior EMHP Supervisor include:

Delivering evidenced based interventions to children, young people, parents/carers through individual and group work.

Ensuring children/young people play an active part in decision making about the support they receive.

Providing advice/consultation to education staff to support children/young people getting the right help at the right time.

Developing local knowledge of services particularly in relation to mental health issues to enable effective signposting and planning.

Supporting education settings in developing and embedding whole school approaches to mental health through collaboration and coproduction with the school community.

Delivering psychoeducation sessions to children, young people, parents/carers through assemblies, classroom and parent sessions.

Participating in the delivery of training programmes for education settings and community services.

Provide clinical guidance and supervision to the team including Low Intensity CBT Practitioners.

Support with delivering training and guidance to the team.

To personally maintain accurate clinical records and ensure that high standards of clinical record keeping are maintained throughout the team.

Work alongside the leadership team to develop and implement new and innovative ways of delivering evidence-based interventions, leading clinically based initiatives to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to children and young people.

JOB SUMMARY

The Mental Health Support Teams in Schools (MHST) sit at Tier 2 of the getting help aspect of the Thrive model. The team has 3 core functions: 1) To deliver evidence based interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties; 2) To support schools to develop their whole school approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing; and 3) To provide timely advice to school and college staff to ensure that young people get the right support at the right time.

They will also work closely with other services to ensure services are working closely to meet the needs of young people.
  • The post holder will be part of the Clinical Senior Leadership Team (CSLT) and be a keen contributer in clinical governance, service development, service evaluation and adaptive to change in a ever-growing service.
  • MHSTs are delivered through a partnership involving CAMHS (South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust) as the lead provider and the local authority as wrap around services.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

The postholder will:

1.1 Care/service/function provision:

  • The post holder will be expected to supervise trainee Educational Mental Health Practitioners and Children's Wellbeing Practitioners as a core responsibility.
  • Attend and fulfil the requirements of the training element of the post including practical, academic and practice based assessments. This would include reviewing videos and case reports of the trainee EMHPs where appropriate.
  • Support EMHP staff in the co-delivery of training sessions. This will include; attendance at practice skills sessions, involvement in formative feedback sessions with teaching staff, and co-production of elements of the curriculum
  • To perform all aspects of the role in accordance with Trust policies and other national bodies.
  • To work with a small caseload of service users, providing assessment, care planning and care delivery for service users with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, in schools.
  • This will include the provision of highly skilled professional care, psychological interventions, group work, clinical assessment, risk assessments / risk management, and promoting recovery and inclusion and ensuring co-production with service users, families and carers and the education staff.
  • To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
  • To act at all times in accordance with the respective professional Code of Conduct, Trust Policies and occupational protocols.

  • To provide specialist advice to other members of staff and trainees and act as a role model.
