Main duties of the job

The post will support the dementia pathway and would be an excellent role for a newly qualified Psychologist or someone wanting to develop their skills in this area.

Roles and responsibilities will include:

- Direct neuropsychological assessments in the Memory Team (including family members to think systemically about a persons needs). All assessments will be supported by expert neuropsychological supervision, so we would welcome anyone with a special interest in this area, or if you are wanting to develop confidence and competence with assessment skills.

- Co-delivering the Cognitive Stimulation Therapy group (a post diagnostic group for people with dementia).

- Supporting the Behaviour that Challenges pathway, closely working with the Principal Clinical Psychologist leading this area. There will be opportunity to develop MDT working, formulation led care, and teaching and training in this area.

In addition to the above, we have a good relationship with the University of Leeds and routinely offer Trainee placements, which would allow for the opportunity to develop supervisory skills.

Please note the post is based in Wakefield, however there will be a weekly requirement to travel to Kirklees as some of the neuropsychological assessment work will be with the Kirklees memory team.

The post holder will provide specialist clinical psychology skills within a multidisciplinary team. The post holder will provide a high quality clinical service to the users of the service.

They will provide highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention while working collaboratively with non-psychologist colleagues, professionals from other agencies and carers. They will be clinically responsible to a senior clinical psychologist. Clinical oversight of all work will be held by the clinical lead in the service.
