Job summary

Part Time - 30 Hours Per Week

Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist Band 8a (0.8 WTE) working in a joint post to be split equally across two bases, Baghill House, Pontefract and Drury Lane, Wakefield health and wellbeing hubs.

A development opportunity has arisen within our Core Pathway for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (Band 7-8a preceptorship will be considered) who enjoys team working and has a desire for working creatively and collaboratively with adults with secondary care presentations. Within each of the Core Teams, we have a diverse group of professionals. We are a friendly and supportive service and offer a range of interventions and modalities of treatment. We work as part of an integrated mental health team in order to offer a therapy service to adults who are experiencing moderate to severe, and often longstanding psychological difficulties. A large majority of our service users have complex trauma presentations, and we are keen to promote a trauma-informed approach both within the teams and across the Trust.

There is an opportunity for a preceptorship post for a Band 7 to join the service and undertake a development plan with the aim of developing the required competencies for an 8a post. The candidate would need to successfully complete the competency framework before they gain the band 8a and this would not be achieved due to length of time in post. If you are unable to achieve the required competencies, your employment could be at risk.

Main duties of the job

We aim to provide a comprehensive range of psychological interventions as part of a psychological therapy offer within an integrated community team.

We are looking for a flexible and adaptive individual who is able to offer assessments, consultations and psychological therapy, both autonomously and as part of an integrated team working with working age adult service users. The post is split over both bases in the Wakefield Core Service, and it is envisaged that the successful post-holder will be working two days per week in each team base and attend team meetings as appropriate.

We have strong links with the Leeds Doctorate Training course in Clinical Psychology and the successful applicant would be expected to regularly offer supervision to Clinical or Counselling Psychology Trainees as part of the role.

We would be willing to consider a recently qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologists as part of a development post/preceptorship. In this instance, the 8a offer would be subject to the applicant completing the supervisors training for Clinical/Counselling Psychologists, production a portfolio of case work within the Core Service, and an audit or service evaluation project completed.

All employees of the Trust are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect patients
