Clinical Information Systems Assistant Manager

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Assistant Clinical Information Systems Manager to join our Clinical Systems Team. You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of designated systems, ensuring optimal software performance and liaising with system suppliers. Keeping abreast of new developments and functionality will be critical to driving system enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the performance, availability, and security of clinical systems.
  • Liaise with software suppliers to resolve incidents, deploy updates, and test new releases.
  • Evaluate emerging features and recommend improvements to meet clinical needs.
  • Provide specialist guidance to clinicians, service managers, and colleagues on system configuration and best practice.
  • Lead, mentor, and coordinate a team of Clinical Systems specialists and analysts.

Proven experience managing clinical information systems within a healthcare environment would be an advantage.

JOB SUMMARY

Working within the Clinical Information Systems Team the post holder will be responsible for leading various aspects of system changes and improvements in support of the information requirements of the Trust. Tasks and projects will involve working from the inception of new system functionality, through to actual implementation and liaising closely with front-line service staff (clinical/admin).

The postholder will work with the Clinical Information Systems Team, system users and system suppliers to ensure that all highly complex systems issues are investigated and resolved appropriately.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

1. To evaluate system functionality and determine appropriate usage in order to support quality patient care and all aspects of internal and external information requirements, advising all stakeholders on best practice available

2. To assist in the deployment of new systems and the development/implementation of changes to systems and/or processes to improve data quality standards and information production, ensuring that user specifications and design criteria are fully met

3. To manage/take the lead on system and system development projects which may be linked into larger programmes of work, ensuring that milestones and deadlines are all met within the scope of the larger programme and that deliverables are produced to specification

4. To develop full specialist knowledge of current and future clinical information systems used across the Trust and develop a thorough understanding of all clinical data held by the Trust

5. Utilise technical skills (e.g. SQL) to support routine and ad hoc system development needs of the clinical and IM&T services.

To support and train, where appropriate support/training staff during system implementation and throughout the life of systems, evaluating the impact of change on users and liaise with Clinical Systems Transformation staff to revise training materials and Performance & Information staff in respect of reporting requirements.

7. To work on specific projects/tasks, as assigned by the departmental senior management, ensuring that all requirements of the IM&T agenda are fully met and that all outputs are presented appropriately

8. To liaise with colleagues across IM&T to ensure that as part of any system development they are leading considers IT, system training and information requirements.

9. To understand clinical pathways and how they map to clinical information systems.

10. To liaise directly with managers and directors of Business Delivery Units, services and team managers and individual clinical staff to ensure that system developments support the clinical and business requirements of the Trust

11. To support the Clinical Information Systems Team in the investigation of highly complex system issues to ensure resolution.

12. To produce and maintain procedures and all relevant documentation within own area of work and advise on changes to documentation where new guidelines or legislation impact on other service areas; to implement departmental and Trust policies, recommending appropriate amendments to policies to ensure adherence to national guidelines

13. To monitor the output of statutoryChange Notices (DDCN, DSCN, ISN) and other mandated changes which may affect Trust systems/data collection and escalate appropriately
