Job summary

The post holder is a member of the Facilities Team based in Housekeeping and Domestic Services and will be responsible for carrying out catering and cleaning duties based at Cheswold Park Hospital responsible to Housekeeping and Domestic Supervisors and the Housekeeping Manager. The role requires flexibility in approach to the duties.

Posts available 1 x 30 hours per week, 5 x 6 hour shifts per week on a rota basis including weekends and bank holidays.

At the time of advertising, this role does not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK. For this reason, we are unable to sponsor anyone for a skilled worker visa for this role

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role will be to clean all areas following the National Standards of Cleanliness, this includes signing off sheets to confirm the work has been completed.

Serve food, complete relevant paperwork which include food temperature checks.

Prepare small amounts of food from the freezer.

You will be able to work as a team and be able to prioritise your workload.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To provide a high standard of domestic, catering and general household duties within a ward environment for people with mental health problems. Duties will be carried out in line with the National standards of cleanliness.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Strictly apply the rule of confidentiality with regard to confidential information concerning service users and their care.

Maintain confidentiality regarding colleagues in order not to compromise their safety or well being.

Ensure that all relevant information obtained during the course of interactions with service users is shared with the nurse in charge of the ward area.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

Establish and maintain good working relationships and clear areas of communications with ward staff and service users whilst delivering the core duties of a housekeeping service

1 Housekeeping duties

a. Receive and store all food in accordance with set standards and Trust policy..

b. To check stocks of sundry items, food and linen

c. To store linen personal clothing as laundered and ensure sufficient stocks are available at all times to meet service user requirements.

d. Support Service users in guiding them to use laundry equipment when required.

e. Communicate with multidisciplinary teams (nursing staff, catering, dieticians and facilities) to ensure service users receive special diets in accordance with nutritional requirements and care plans.

f. Liaise and communicate any menu changes and answer any queries relating to menu changes with service users and nursing staff.

KEY RESULT AREAS

To ensure functional tasks are completed including.

2. General Duties

To provide a housekeeping service within ward 18 and its garden areas. Reporting and actioning discrepancies as they occur.

a. Laundry area is kept clean

b. Clinic room wipe down, tables, trolleys, work surfaces.

c. To keep courtyards maintained i.e. litter free and bins emptied. Report works that may need to be carried out to appropriate departments.

d. To supply and replenish consumables i.e. Paper towels, toilet rolls, soap etc.

e. Report mechanical defects, pest sightings or building/environmental faults to appropriate personnel.

f. To follow units operational procedures for securing and locking doors.

g. To spot clean spillages as they occur in line with Infection Control and Health and Safety polices.

h. Child visiting room kept clean and tidy.

i. Clean keyboards

3. Dining, Kitchen area & Kitchenette

a. Keep the Service users Kitchen area clean and stocked.

b. Cleaning of kitchen surfaces.

c. Ensure items in service users fridge is stored in accordance with trust policy.

d. Check service users fridge temperature.

e. Damp mopping of kitchen floor. Spot mop spillages.

f. Monitor and advise patients on healthy eating options where required.

g. Distributes snacks to service users

4. Sanitary Fittings

a. Cleaning commodes, shower chair, and assisted bathroom hoists.

b. Keep sluice areas clean

c. When required replenish supplies of paper towels, toilet rolls and soap.

5. Bedrooms

a Reset safes

b. Ensure name plates on bedroom doors.

c. Ensure information packs are in all bedrooms

c. To build a good therapeutic relationship with service users, in order to encourage and assist them, in taking care of their own living space.

d. Be available to open patients bed rooms doors

e. Spot clean as required.

f. Alert nurse in charge to any food item found, which contravenes units banned and dangerous items policy.

6. Property

a. Organise, monitor and tidiness of patients property cupboard

b. Assist with auditing and monitoring patient property sheets and disclaimer forms

c. Assist service users with any laundry requirements and use of laundry equipment

7 Weekly Duties

a. X2 Weekly conduct required flush regime
