Job summary
We are looking to appoint a Finance Assistant to join our Finance Team
based in Wakefield.
This
is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a team responsible for supporting
various care groups delivering high quality and timely financial management
services to all budget holders.
Working as an integral member
of the Finance Team, the Finance Assistant is required to organise personal
workload to meet all relevant financial timetables. You will be a logical
thinker who works in a methodical manner, paying particular attention to
accuracy.

Main duties of the job
The candidate will support the Management
Accounts Team with the preparation of monthly financial reporting. This will
involve:
Inputting the financial
adjustments into the ledger.
Assisting with
budget holder queries.
Assisting with
investigation of variances and preparation of analysis to support decision
making.
Preparation and
generation of invoices.
At

Job responsibilities
The
postholder will:
Input the necessary financial adjustments into
the ledger as part of the month end preparation of budget reports.
Assist in the preparation and generation of
invoices to external organisations.
Complete routine operational tasks for the
finance team including ordering supplies.
Field queries that come into the Finance Team
as appropriate. The Finance Assistant will deal directly with routine queries
from budget holders.
Assist the Finance Team in investigating any
budgetary variances within the monthly reports. This will require interrogating
the financial and non-financial information and undertaking investigations.
Develop formal/informal relationships with
internal finance staff and to actively participate in the regular team meetings
to discuss operational issues and suggest and develop improvements in system
process and procedures.
Establish good relationships through phone and
other forms of communication with budget holders and other staff.
Be required to be flexible and support, as
required, other functions within the Finance section.
Participate in supervision to develop skills
and knowledge and apply continuous reflection on own practice.
The post
holder has no managerial supervision responsibility but is expected to be a
good example to other Finance Assistants and support new members of staff.
Use Trust resources efficiently and suggest efficiency
savings to senior staff.
