Job summary
Part Time = 30 Hours Per Week
We are seeking a self-motivated and adaptable pharmacy technician with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to take on this exciting new post.

The post is for 30 hours at Band 6. The service currently operates Monday to Friday with a Saturday and Bank Holiday cover rota.
As Lead technician for the area, you will lead a team of technical staff delivering on wards services to the Wakefield and Forensics BDU.
As a trust wide role, you will take a leading with development of on ward technician clinical services and embedding of the ward based dispensing services.
The post works in conjunction with 3 Lead technicians covering, Dispensary, Barnsley, & Calderdale & Kirklees.
As a member of the leadership team, you will be involved in high level decision making for the pharmacy services.
Supporting the Chief Pharmacist and other leaders to deliver a safe and effective service that is up to date and fit for purpose.
The recent addition of Electronic Prescribing and Administration has provided may improvements to the medicines pathway.
Building on these improvements is key for the next steps in our development.
The pharmacy service has teams both within the trust and into the wider primary care.
Working together to provide wrap around care and smooth transitions for our service users.
Main duties of the job
Carry out service development work and clinical projects to improve and develop services.
Contribute to the review of existing systems and implementation of new procedures/guidelines.
Support patients achieve optimal outcomes from their medicines by advising on the safe and effective use of their medicines and responding to any questions or concerns they may have.
Manage the allocated technicians and assistants, providing support, direction and effective supervision of the technicians and assistants in the performance of all duties.
Provide a medicines management service to the wards, including the taking of comprehensive medication histories on admission, assessing Patients Own Drugs (PODs), ensuring the required medicines are ordered and where appropriate other services such as one-stop and on ward dispensing,
Special responsibility for development of clinical technician service and near patient dispensing.
Support the delivery of pharmacy service objectives as defined by Trust and National Policy, to meet clinical governance targets, develop patients care, improve clinical outcomes and ensure compliance with professional standards.
