We currently have an opportunity for a Band 6 IPC registered nurse/healthcare practitioner to come and work in an established and forward-thinking team. We are looking for someone who firmly believes in improving safety for patients and staff. The role will challenge and develop the many skills you already have whilst creating and identifying a new set.
As an IPC nurse, you will be contribute to the daily operational delivery of a complex Infection Prevention & Control programme. Including provision of specialist advice, outbreak management, undertaking post-infection reviews, quality improvements projects of clinical areas and practice, surveillance, education, project management that drives improvement in patient care through learning and support for staff, patients, and visitors in order to maintain a safe clean environment.

Main duties of the job
Provide specialist advice and expertise to support the prevention, surveillance, and control of infection across SWYPFT services.
Contribute to the day-to-day maintenance and further development of a high quality, proactive, responsive, and accessible infection prevention and control service.
Assist in developing and reviewing specialist infection control policies and protocols, in order to promote and maintain the highest standards of infection prevention and control practice that is evidence and research based.
Provide training and education to increase awareness of infection prevention and control issues amongst all disciplines and grades of staff within the Trust.
Contribute to the Annual Infection Prevention and Control work programme on behalf of the Infection Prevention & Control Team (IPCT).
Create quality improvement projects across a wide range of settings to support best evidence practice.

- To work as a member of the Infection Prevention and Control team and with Modern Matrons and Professional and Clinical Leaders in the prevention and control of healthcare associated infection.
- To assist the Senior Infection Prevention and Control Nurse in ensuring that written infection policies are implemented and complied with.
