IN FORENSIC PSYCHIATRY (IN-PATIENT)

South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust are
recruiting for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Forensic
Psychiatry team based at CheswoldPark Hospital, Doncaster,
DN5 8AR.
This role plays a vital part in ensuring our patients receive
the care that they need and will be an integral role within the Forensic In-patient Service. The consultant is expected to provide
responsible clinician responsibilities to approximately 16 patients in both low
and medium secure unit. The service is undergoing establishment review.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Consultant
Psychiatrist who is passionate about
providing timely services in out patient setting and ensuring safe and effective interventions
are delivered to our vulnerable
population.

Main duties of the job
As a senior member of the team, you will have an excellent opportunity
to help shape our services and drive change within the organisation and you
will be well supported by the senior
leadership team. You will be
employed under the Consultant Terms and Conditions with a salary within this
payscale. In addition, our Trust grants
an additional two days annual leave to Consultants with 7 years or more
NHS experience at Consultant grade.
We offer local CPD events such as the JAPS (joint academic psychiatric
seminar) a monthly meeting for Trust-wide psychiatrists with a wide range of
clinical topics covered. Additionally, we offer an in-house mentoring programme and leadership and management development activities. We are also happy to look at supporting
those with interests in research,
whether new or an ongoing research project.

Clinical duties of post holder
Provide
medical leadership to ensure effective clinical assessment, management and the
delivery of care to the service users by providing diagnostic assessment and
treatment for service users referred to the service.
To
contribute to training and support of medical and nursing staff in the delivery
of medical and psychiatric aspects of the patient care.
Provide continuing clinical
responsibility as a Responsible Clinician or supervising consultant for service
users in his/her charge allowing for all proper delegation and training of
members of staff accountable to the post holder.
Share in the provision of a comprehensive
psychiatric service including responsibility for the diagnosis, risk management
and treatment of mental disorder including preparing reports for and
participating in Mental Health Act and other regulatory processes.
Participate in the development of clinical
governance and robust clinical risk management systems within the Care Group.
To be a member of joint collaborative
forums such as Horizon (Adult Secure Provider Collaborative) with representatives from ICBs, primary,
secondary and secure care, third sector organisations and other partnership
agencies involved in the delivery of care
Work closely with primary care providers
to improve liaison between primary care and mental health services
Provide specialist advice and support to
patients, carers and professionals
Provide Personality disorder access
assessments to Provider Collaborative
Work in close liaison with the
other consultant psychiatrists, teams and services within the Care Group.
Within SWYPFT this will include liaison with low and medium secure colleagues,
the Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT), and LD Forensic Outreach Liaison
Services (LD FOLS). This will be to ensure, for example, that incoming
referrals are directed to the most appropriate team. The service operates
within the South Yorkshire Collaborative for Secure Services, and liaison with
similar teams in other secure services across South Yorkshire will also be an
essential aspect of the post.
To
actively participate in the development and management of the pathway
multidisciplinary team.
Provide a second opinion for colleagues for service users
from the same or other areas of the Trust and where appropriate and by
agreement provide treatment and care.
Provide expert advice and a consultation service on
clinical issues.
Provide clinical supervision and management of the junior
medical staff and other staff as appropriate to ensure service needs are met.
Undertake Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act
assessments and reviews as required.
