Full Time - 37.5 Hours Per Week

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic band 4 nursing associate to join the Forensic Outreach Liaison Service for Learning Disability and/or Autism (FOLS LDA). The FOLS LDA service work with adults with a diagnosed learning disability and/or autism who are at risk of contact, or in contact with, the criminal justice system.

The service covers West Yorkshire and Barnsley and is a multi-disciplinary team of professionals. FOLS is an evolving, dynamic service that provides a formulation driven, trauma informed and strengths-based approach to risk management.

Clinical decisions and risk management are regularly reviewed together as an MDT. The team provides risk assessment, direct therapeutic interventions and supports transitioning out of secure settings to patients, as well as consultation, advice, supervision and training to relevant services and partners.

This post is suitable for someone experienced in supporting people with a learning disability and/or autism. They must be comfortable working with patients who present with risk behaviours and a strong communicator.

As a community post, there is no direct personal care. No physical observations (NEWS2 etc.) are taken and no medication administered.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for a B4 nursing associate, ideally with some experience working with learning disabilities, Autism and mental health. You would work as part of an MDT alongside partner agencies to keep people safe, promoting communication and independence.

The post holder will support the nursing team, working directly alongside nurses or independently with supervision. They will use skills to assess, advise and provide appropriate group and individual interventions to help identify and reduce the an individuals risks of offending, under the guidance of a registered RMN or RNLD. The team take an MDT approach to risk management and review cases regularly together. The successful candidate will receive training to bolster their skills.

The work will be undertaken in a variety of settings within community, secure and inpatient settings. The post holder will liaise effectively with all relevant professionals, carers, and family members to ensure a robust, person centred and partnership working approach is maintained.

Report back and share information with the registered nurses on the condition, behaviour, activity and responses of individuals.

Recognise issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable children and adults and report any problems or raise concerns to the appropriate registered care professionals.
