My name is Lindsey Hoather, I am the team Manager for
Wetherby YOI CAMHS.
I am seeking a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to join
our secure CAMHS wellbeing pathway at Wetherby Young Offenders Institution
(YOI). There will be an opportunity to build therapeutic relationships with
young people, in order to assess risk and mental health needs. Liaison,
communication and consultation with other professional groups within the YOI
will be necessary to ensure that robust and holistic care plans are established
around young people. There will be opportunities to develop and run therapeutic
groups and chances to offer 1:1 interventions, depending on the identified
needs of young people. You will be working within a supportive
multidisciplinary team, within which fortnightly wellbeing pathway meetings are
held. Pathway meetings are an opportunity to contribute to multidisciplinary
discussions about young people and their needs.
Secure CAMHS operates 7 days per week across the year
providing a services from 08:00-20:00, and your shifts will fit within this
pattern.

Main duties of the job
You will work within an
integrated healthcare team and will represent CAMHS within the YOI. Part of
your role will be to offer screening assessments for young people who are newly
arrived at the establishment, and you will attend meetings held by the prison,
for example to review young peoples risk to self.
You will hold a caseload of
young people who are relatively settled within the YOI. You will provide person-centred
assessment of their mental health needs and risk, in addition to screening for
neurodevelopmental needs. You will be part of a supportive multidisciplinary
team within which you can seek support to establish a plan of care and
intervention for young people.
HMYOI Wetherby is the
largest secure provision in the country, which is underpinned by the Framework
for Integrated Care which is a developmentally and trauma informed mental
health service model.

children and young people.
To provide consultation,
assessment and interventions to young people with a wide range of emotional and
psychological problems who are referred to specialist Focus CAMHS, in keeping
with evidence based practice with supervision from a senior clinician within
professional guidelines and within the overall framework of the teams policies
and procedures.
Key Result Areas:
- To support the ongoing process of delivering a
comprehensive CAMHS system.
- To provide assessment, interventions, therapy to
children, young people with the most severe, complex and persistent mental
health problems, including those who are severely mentally ill or at suicidal risk and where appropriate,
families as both an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multidisciplinary
team in a variety of settings to address need.
- To apply a sound knowledge of safeguarding children
and guidelines in clinical work.
- To be committed to a quality approach for patient
care.
- The post-holder will
demonstrate high levels of concentration and provide sustained effort in
assessment of complex family issues.
- To manage own caseload,
accessing support and guidance appropriate to individual need.
- To
operate within the clinical and case management supervision framework.
- To
provide training, consultation and supervision to other service providers, partner
agencies and junior members of staff as required regarding intensive
interventions with children, young people and families.
- To participate in the development, audit and review of this extension
to existing service provision.
- To
undertake extended hours of work alongside fellow specialist CAMHS
practitioners.
